There are MANY reports I’ve read (just google it in the “news” section) about assaults, robbery, and hold-ups with people with disabilities. We are obviously “easy” targets to criminals, or so they think, in their eyes.
“Sally Johnston, president of Disabled in Action of Greater Syracuse, Inc., who uses a wheelchair but has never taken or seen the class, said she has often wondered what she would do if someone accosted her. “Unfortunately, in this day and age, people with disabilities are more vulnerable than ever and need to protect themselves.”
It may behoove some of us to look into self-defense and/or martial arts classes to fend off would-be attackers. Cane-Fu class? If that’s what you want to carry around when you need pull out a can of whoop-ass on some one! Me? A trusty CCW and a 9, would tell punks… “Go Ahead, Make My Day”!
