OneTall Mountain,Two Blind Guys.

January 17, 2014 in Disabled Peeps R Awesome!

Talk about an expedition! Two brave Army vets are setting on a trip to climb a pretty technical mountain, blind.

Two blind men are pushing the limits of their independence and raising awareness of technology for blindness by climbing Mt. Denali in May.
Scott Smiley, a U.S. Army Major, and Martin Bailey, a retired Army Master Sergeant, will climb Mt. Denali in Colorado this May in an effort to raise awareness of technology and research to cure blindness. The Presidio Group, a company based out of Utah, is sponsoring the event.
"What it comes down to is it's curable," Bailey said of the technology. "With funding from Congress, they can basically make prosthetics, just like a cochlear ear implant, that basically, it transmits a (visual) signal to the brain through a microchip." -http://www.mpnnow.com

WOW! I couldn't even begin to think how difficult and challenging it would be to not have sight daily, but not have sight and climb up a mountain. It take LOTS of guts! My hats off to you gentlemen.

I get freaked out when someone turns off the light in the bathroom, then I stick out my arm thinking that the wall, that is ten feet away, is in front of me and I start waving my hand like I'm washing the side of a house.
