Ever heard of Geoff Holt? Well if you haven’t: “He has battled raging ocean storms during a solo and unaided 2,700 mile voyage across the Atlantic and became the first disabled person to sail single-handed around Britain, all while confined to a wheelchair.”
While navigating on land, he attempted to board a vessel of the “train” kind and the boarding guard, referred to as Guard 1003 (in the article) told him he COULD NOT! The reason? Guard 1003… let’s refer him now as “Douche 1003″. Douche 1003 told him: “To quote Guard 1003, pointing at my wheelchair, “those things aren’t allowed on these trains, they will damage the floors”.
Are you serious? Damage the floors? After arguing with Douche 1003,Douche 1003 finally lowered the accessible ramp hitting his leg and foot in the process!
“The father-of-one added: ‘He had publicly humiliated me, he had publicly degraded me and he had made me feel like a worthless piece of dirt… it was quite simply the most disgusting way to treat another human being, let alone a disabled one.”
If I were Captain Holt, the next time I saw Douche 1003, I would bring a small oar and slap him in the nuts with it and tell him “You might reproduce with that thing!”… but that’s just me.
